To promote high quality scientific education, research and training, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has set up seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.
BS-MS Dual Degree Programme

It is a five year dual degree program for bright and motivated science students who have passed (10+2) level. The program integrates classroom learning with research and provides ample scope for multidisciplinary interactions. The first two years of the program consist of core courses in basic sciences, the third and fourth years are dedicated to specialization in chosen science subjects and the fifth year includes a research project. The training during the program enables students to pursue a career in academia, R&D institutes and science based industries.

Scholarship
KVPY scholars admitted to IISERs would draw fellowship as per KVPY norms. In addition a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships of Rs. 5000/- per month will be available for candidates admitted through JEE Advanced and SCB channels. This supersedes all earlier anouncements regarding scholarship.

Eligibility

There are three channels of admission. Candidates will be admitted to IISER only through these channels.

  1. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel

  2. Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT–JEE) channel

  3. State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) channel

These channels will be referred to as KVPY, IIT-JEE and SCB respectively

Indian nationals, and students belonging to PIO or OCI category are eligible to apply provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria described below.

KVPY Channel

Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from 2016-17 academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.

IIT-JEE Channel

Candidates securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Merit List (CML) of JEE Advanced 2016 for admissions to IIT’s. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.

SCB Channel

Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream in 2015 or 2016 with marks equal or above the cut off percentage in their respective boards as given in the table below are eligible to apply. For the candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer of the Other Backward Classes (OBCNC) and Persons with Disability (PD) categories, there is a 5% relaxation. The cut-off percentage for the Scheduled Castes (SC), the Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates is 55% in (10+2) level for all boards. Students applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various centres across the country. To calculate your percentage of marks obtained use your board’s method.

Int. PhD Admission IISER Kolkata

Eligibility: Students with a B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.B.B.S. or an equivalent degree from any recognized University/Institute/College can apply for the Post-Bachelor Integrated Ph.D. programme in Biological, Chemical, Earth, Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks/equivalent grades in Honours/Major (if applicable), or 60% marks/equivalent grades in Aggregate (if Honours/Major is not applicable). Those who are appearing in the final examination of their degree course can also apply; for them, the eligibility marks are 60% based on the marks obtained in the undergraduate examinations held so far. The qualifying marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates are 50% as per Central Government relaxation policy.
Please note that, the applicants who have qualified in nationwide aptitude tests such as JAM or JEST (Physical Sciences), JAM (Chemical Sciences, Mathematics & Statistics, Earth Sciences) or JAM/JGEEBILS (Biological Sciences) CAN ONLY APPLY FOR THE PROGRAMME.
The short-listed candidates will be called to an interview for selection. Everyone must apply through the online portal. 
When to apply: For the Autumn Session (starts from the end of July, 2016), candidates should apply online latest by May 01, 2016. 
How to apply: The applicants should open the link at the bottom of this page (Submit New Application) and properly fill the application form as instructed and submit. Applicants should save the properly filled application form and take a print as the hard copy of the application. The interviews will be conducted from 26-28 May, 2016. Names of candidates selected for Integrated PhD programme for the year 2016-17 will be published in IISER-Kolkata website on 31st May 2016. 

Documents required: Selected candidates for test/interview should bring a printout of application form along with the required documents listed below at the time of test/interview: 
1. Attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations starting from secondary examination. 
2. Original/Self Attested copy of the qualifying examination certificate 
3. Confidential recommendation letters of assessment (signed hardcopy) of the applicant from two teachers who have taught courses and would be able to evaluate the student as a potential research worker. The teachers should seal the envelopes and sign across the flaps. 
4. Photo identity 
5. Proof of age. 
6. Statement of Purpose mentioning research interest and potential supervisors (if any) 

IIT JAM 2016 Online Admission Form

IIT JAM 2016 Qualified candidates can apply for admission at various IITs and IISc for MSc and MSc+PhD courses from 15th April to 27th April 2016.
You need to provide choices of Institutes and Course in online application.Here, we have come with Rank of last admitted students in Physics courses offered in 2015.

 Mandatory Documents for all:
1.XII or HSC Marksheet
2.Qualifying degree: Marksheets of all semesters/ years

Nationality Certificate for General Category:
Birth Certificate or Voter ID or First page of Passport or School Transfer Certificate (TC) showing Nationality or Nationality Certificate issued by the authorized government agency.
Please note that any other documents viz. Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Driving License, College/ Institute/ School ID, Bank Passbook, PAN card, Marksheets are not accepted as Nationality Certificate.

PhD Admission at ARIES

Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational SciencES (ARIES) is a premier research institute in advanced research. ARIES conduct PHD program in Astronomy & Astrophysics and Atmospheric Sciences. The Research Scholar undergoes intensive course work during the first year. For detail of course work visit at . On successful completion of the course work, student will be registered for PhD degree in one the university having MoU with ARIES for granting PhD. degree, under the supervision of ARIES faculty, with their matching research interest. Student are paid a scholarship of Rs. 25,000 /- per month for first two year and Rs. 28,000 /- thereafter for next three years, subject to satisfactory progress. In addition, they are paid a book grant of Rs. 10, 000 /– per annum for five years. Student are also provided campus hostel accommodation for a period of five years. ARIES also encourage and support the visits of students for observing program of their research, along with participation in national and international conferences.

Criteria for qualification of PhD interviews at ARIES:

  •     M. Sc. Physics/Astrophysics with minimum 55% for General/OBC and 50% for SC/ST
  •     JEST-2016 qualified or CSIR-NET (JRF/LS) qualified in Physics (June 2015, December 2015, June 2014, December 2014) or GATE - 2016 or GATE -2015 qualified in Physics.
  •     The candidate should pass M. Sc. on or after 2014
  •     Maximum age on August 1, 2016 should not be more than 28 years.
